I spy animals. Practice Zoo vocabulary

Level/Age group:

This game is suitable pre-school and primary school ESL students
Any level

Aim of the game:

To practice zoo/underwater animals vocabulary

What you need:

Animal flashcards or pictures of different animals
You can also use the colouring worksheets.

How to play:

Stick the cards/pictures of the animals on different walls of the classroom before your ESL class begins.
Explain your young learners, they have to find and point to the animals that you call out at the end of the rhyme which goes:

I spy with my little eye...
1. an elephant
2. a snake
3. a crocodile
4. a monkey
Etc...

You can call out as many animals as you put up on the walls.
If you have a bit more advanced ESL students, you can choose an assistant who calls out the animals instead of you. Young learners enjoy being teaching assistants whilst they practice saying the taught vocabulary.
